B.S. Applied Physics, Central State University (1975)
Experience:Prior to joining NSSL in July 2015, Pete had extensive experience with weather and flight systems. He was Project Manager for the NEXRAD Dual Pol contract, helping to design, develop, and test hardware and software for the NEXRAD Dual Pol system upgrade. He was also Project Manager on the NEXRAD ORDA contract. During this time, he managed worldwide deployment of the two major NEXRAD upgrades at 169 sites nationwide. Pete also spent many years with the Federal Aviation Administration, serving as Oklahoma City Technical Center Director (AAI Services), Director of the FAA Logistics Center and FAA Systems Maintenance Service, and Manager of the New England Region Airway Faciilities Division. He was an electronic engineer for the FAA Office of Aviation Safety and was selected as one of five FAA Long Term Trainees (out of 250 applicants) for the FAA's one year Masters program at UC - Berkeley. He obtained his M.S. in Transportation Engineering with a 3.6 GPA.
What He Does:As the ITS Group Leader, Pete provides management and technical direction to 16 Information Technology (IT) program personnel. The group is responsible for supporting all of NSSL's personal computer needs, e.g., Microsoft Windows, Linux and Macintosh systems. They also provide primary support for the NSSL Data Server Room equipment and work with SPC to provide a positive and cohesive work environment.
