Spring 2019 EM Experiment

Recruitment and Participation for Spring 2019 EM Experiment

Are you a current emergency manager interested in working with us in the Hazardous Weather Testbed?  This is a special opportunity to test the future of the National Weather Service warning paradigm.  We typically require a week of time commitment for the on-site experiment, which occurs in the summer at the National Weather Center in Norman, Oklahoma.  We sample emergency managers from all of the US for this experiment!  Participants are welcome to post about their experiences while participating in the project (outside of core experiment hours, which are approximately from 8 AM – 5 PM) and will have the chance to meet top scientists in the field as well as tour the building.  Travel expenses for participants can be provided per University of Oklahoma travel rules.

Recruitment for this year’s project just opened!  The EM Invitation Letter 2019 can be viewed here.  This year we are funded to test a new warning paradigm (similar to that shown in the animation of FACET #4).  This year’s project will take place for two weeks, May 13-17 and May 20-24 here in Norman.  For more details about this year’s project, please see the above attached letter.

If you would like to apply, you can apply online at: https://goo.gl/forms/T7845Lr8IWcDfrJi2.  Deadlines for applications are March 29, 2019. . If you have any questions about the call or participation, you can email Kodi Berry directly (kodin@ou.edu); she is the Executive Officer for the HWT and handles all participants’ logistic arrangements!
